I was recently on a business trip to Dallas and was
reviewing a past issue of INTERIORS Magazine, when I ran across a lovely lamp I
just had to bring to your attention. Unique amongst other floor lamps and
slightly exotic, the Anora by the
Brooklyn-design studio Hellman-Chang gets an A+.
As I was at the Dallas Design Center, I managed to stop by
The David Sutherland Showroom where I saw it in the flesh - the scale and
proportion of the piece is right on and the leaning base and cantilevered
lampshade just add a touch of whimsy.
To me, a piece like this represents luxury – it’s not about
the label (or lack thereof) or price, but about a handsome well-made object of
exceptional quality.
