Wüd Furniture: too cool for its own sake!

  • Wednesday, May 23, 2012
  • I was recently at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in NYC where I stumbled upon the furniture of Wüd Furniture Design.  Based in Brooklyn, Wüd is definitely making some of the most unusually modern, industrially luxurious and sophisticated furniture I’ve seen in a long time. It’s actually very exciting!

The brainchild of creative sculptor Corey Springer, Wüd is innovative in its use of clear epoxy encased metal that allows the particular surface to maintain its industrial look while maintaining a delicious smoothness that does not scratch, corrode, stain or conduct heat and is therefore great for multiple uses like bathroom and kitchen counters. How cool is this? For an industrial look, my bet is on this!

The wonderfully classically proportioned and contemporary polished furniture shown in these images, incorporates the epoxy-encased product but it also masterfully combines other elements of metal and wood with awesome results.  The company has been around for almost 10 years so I guess I’ve been living under a rock!  Were you?
