California design for NYC living

  • Wednesday, May 9, 2012

  • Recently I’ve been obsessing over cabinets for one of my clients. And while I don’t know if she’ll love this one, I can tell you I adore this design by Ted Boerner, a design studio in San Francisco.

It’s totally a combo of California mid-century chic and NYC industrial cool.  The frame is black steel with back painted glass inserts for the sides (available in a variety of colors from which you can choose) and a tempered safety glass for the top.  The base is either open as you see on the photo OR a solid wood slab which I think would make the cabinet look significantly heavier… but to each his own!

All in all a super good alternative for a media unit or a sideboard in a cheery, unpretentious space!
